So when the Gen 3 router first came out, Starlink indicated on the product page and install manual that it supported wired mesh only with other Gen 3 routers. Gen 2 could only pair with Gen 3 wirelessly. That has recently changed based on the Gen 3 router product page. In the screenshot you can see there is now a note at the end saying that the Ethernet Adapter is required for wired mesh from Gen 2 to Gen 3.
Not sure if this was a Gen 2 router software change or a hardware change on the newer Gen 3 routers.
Should also apply to the new Router Mini wired to a Gen 2 router.
