Buying the Starlink Mini in the US, but using it in Canada

Hello,

I currently reside in Canada but also maintain a residence in Portland, OR. I noticed that the refurbished Mini is priced lower in the U.S., so I’m considering purchasing one and having it shipped to my Portland address, especially given Oregon’s lack of sales tax.

I spend the majority of my time in Canada, and I understand there is a two-month limit for using the device outside its country of registration. I also came across information stating that activating the device in Canada may incur a $300 out-of-region fee.

Am I overlooking any important details? If the device is activated in the U.S. and used there for 90 days, would it then be possible to transfer the service address to Canada without triggering the fee?

The US and Canada are in the same region, so the "Outside Region Fee" would not apply. You would have to wait 90 days, then transfer to a Canadian account if you wanted the home country on the Roam plan to be Canada.
