Gen 2 to Gen 3 mounting advice

Hey folks, long-time Starlink residential user here. I've been running the Gen 2 dish and router setup for a while now, mounted on a Ridgeline mount (yeah, it was a bit pricey, but worth it for the stability in high winds). I'm thinking about upgrading to the newer dish and router, but I’m wondering—what kind of speed improvement should I expect? Also, does anyone know if the new dish will still work with my current Ridgeline mount? I’d really rather not shell out for a new one if I can avoid it. Open to any advice or suggestions—thanks in advance!

In terms of internet speeds, don't expect a noticeable improvement just by upgrading to Gen 3. What you will notice is better Wifi range and speeds (between devices on the network). The Gen 3 router is SO much better thanks to the Wifi 6 technology.

As far as mounting, you can reuse your Gen 2 Ridgeline Mount by purchasing the "Standard to Standard Actuated" adapter from Starlink. This allows you to mount the Gen 3 to any Gen 2 mount: https://www.starlink.com/shop/products/us-consumer-adapter-mount-gen3

This may not be the right chat string for this question but I didn't find anything better in a search on the forum! :>))

I've installed a Gen 3 router with my Gen 1 dish and the Gen 1 dish power supply. It all works fine. One thing is noticeable, however: When I plug in the R45 cable from the Gen 3 router to the white side of the Gen 1 power brick, the LED on that white side above the connection does not light up - but the Gen 3 router is working. ??

Obviously the Gen 3 cable may have a slight pin difference than the female port on the Gen 1 brick, but you'd think that LED should light up? Oddly, to test this, I unplugged the Gen 3 cable to the brick and re-plugged in my Gen 1 router and cable - and the white side brick LED lights up. Comments or ? Thank you.

I've noticed this too. I think it's just because the software/electronics that control the LED on the Gen 1 power supply have no idea what to make of the Gen 3 router being connected. So the light stays off. I'm sure it's only programmed to recognize that the Gen 1 router is plugged in. With anything else, it stays off to indicate a problem. But if it's working and powering on, there is nothing to worry about!
